I'm Annette, founder of ILKA Interior Design Studio.

With formal training in interior design and more than 20 years of industry experience, I've developed a practical, considered approach shaped by experience in interior design, architectural practice, and specialist bathroom,

tile and stone industries.  Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work across high-end residential homes, multi-residential developments, workplaces, and health and wellness-focused spaces, developing a strong understanding of how thoughtful design can influence the way people experience the environment around them. 

At ILKA, we believe great design extends beyond aesthetics. The spaces we inhabit influence how we feel, move, connect and interact with our surroundings. Our approach considers the relationship between people and place, creating interiors that balance beauty, functionality and purpose while responding to the unique needs of those who use them.

Inspired by the laid-back Australian lifestyle, I create interiors that are uncomplicated, practical and enduring.

My material selections are deeply influenced by the Australian landscape; robust, earthy, raw and richly textured.

I favour neutral, timeless palettes that provide a refined backdrop, allowing each client to express their personality through furniture, artwork and carefully curated pieces.

My approach is collaborative and hands-on, ensuring each project reflects the vision, lifestyle and requirements of the people who use the space. Whether refining layouts, improving functionality, selecting finishes and materials, or considering how a space supports everyday routines, I guide each decision with intention and clarity.

I believe great design should create a sense of calm, connection and ease. My aim is to create welcoming, functional and enduring spaces that support the way people live, work and interact;  from considered residential interiors and workplaces, to wellness-focused environments. Every detail is carefully considered to ensure each space feels effortless to experience and functions seamlessly for those who use it every day.

Founded in 2019 and based on the Gold Coast, QLD, and Tweed Coast, NSW, Australia, ILKA Interior Design Studio offers a refined and personal approach to interior design. When you work with ILKA, you will work directly with me from our first conversation through to the completion of your project.
